Houston is the nation’s fourth largest city with a population of over 2.2 million residents. Home to the world’s largest medical center, Houston has a stable and diverse job market, a lower costs of living compared to other large cities, lots of activities and entertainment, all of which make it a great city to live and top destination to relocate to. However Houston is not without its challenges, according to national reports, Houston ranks among the lowest in terms of the number of affordable homes available for low-income residents. In addition, Houston is also ranked near the lowest in terms of rental homes that are affordable for low-income residents, coupled with the fact that monthly rent prices are outpacing the median household income in some counties. These disproportionate numbers indicate homeownership is becoming less and less obtainable.
